In his speech, Ali Rashid said: The Ministry has discussed the details of the irrigation project and the possibility of sending its projected steps to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. Moreover, the Kurdistan Parliament has approved the initiative from its side allocating the sum the needed sum from the 2010 budget. Rashid added: the Ministry is currently discussing the agreement with several U.S. companies, set to design and execute the project. The project includes the extension of the water network of the small Zab River by 80 to 85 km so it reaches Shamamek, pointing out that the completion of this project will positively affect the recovery of the agricultural sector in Kurdistan , the revival and rebuilding of the rural areas in that region.
